Poet and author Laurie Lee was born in 1914 and grew up in the small Cotswold village of Slad during a time of change, when the rural traditions of past centuries were being swept aside in the path of twentieth-century progress. His autobiography Cider with Rosie has become a modern classic and now James Roose-Evans has skilfully and imaginatively adapted it for the stage.
Starring Jon Darby as Laurie Lee and Liz Grand as Mother, and with music by one of the most accomplished folk musicians this country has ever produced, John Kirkpatrick, Worcester Rep in partnership with the University of Worcester, will stage this funny, touching, achingly nostalgic story of a passing rural age seen through the eyes of a young boy growing up.
Jon Darby, Liz Grand, Gabrielle Bullock, Marilyn Birks and Oakley Flanagan
Generously sponsored by the University of Worcester
