On 31st October 1914 the situation in Belgium was dire. The BEF was exhausted and the Germans had broken the line. The order to prepare for a general withdrawal had been given. The only reserve available was 400 men of the 2nd Battalion the Worcestershire Regiment who were ordered, as a forlon hope, to try and plug the hole in the Line. Mark Jackson will explain the background and the conduct of the battle and how the Worcestershire Regiment saved Europe.

Lieutenant Colonel Mark Jackson OBE was commissioned into the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment in 1971, the third generation of his family in the Regiment. His career spanned the Cold War with tours in West Germany, Northern Ireland, UN duties, West Berlin as well as tours in a NATO headquarters in the Netherlands and the USA.. He left the Army in 2006 and was Chief Executive of St Richard's Hospice for 11 years. He is Chairman of Trustees of the Mercian Regiment Musuem (Worcestershire).
